Inspired by the Atlantic salmon, this painting reflects the annual migration that unfolds beside my studio. Every year, thousands of salmon return up the River Itchen to spawn in the ten-metre-deep mill pond. This ancient cycle of renewal is now increasingly fragile, as declining water quality and rising temperatures threaten one of the species' most important breeding habitats.
